ohor Bahru, 21 Mac- Nama Naib Canselor Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP), Profesor Dato’ Dr Daing Nasir Ibrahim dicatat antara 100 tokoh yang melakar kegemilangan English College (EC) dalam buku Maktab Sultan Abu Bakar: Sejarah dan Biografi 100 Tokoh Melakar Kegemilangan sempena Sambutan Ulang Tahun Keseratus EC yang disambut meriah baru-baru ini.
Buku ini juga turut menyenaraikan Sultan Johor, Duli Yang Maha Mulia Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar, Menteri Besar Johor, Dato’ Mohamed Khaled Nordin, Perdana Menteri ke-3, Tun Hussein Dato Onn, Profesor Diraja Ungku Aziz Ungku Abdul Hamid, bekas Timbalan Perdana Menteri, Tun Musa Hitam, bekas Menteri Penerangan, Tan Sri Mohamed Rahmat dan tokoh korporat, Tan Sri Mohd. Ali Haji Hashim antara 100 tokoh yang dicatatkan.
Majlis pelancaran buku ini menyaksikan, Dato’ Mohamed Khaled Nordin diiringi Pengetua MSAB, Haji Samsudin Md. Arif, Pengerusi Jawatankuasa Induk Sambutan, Zais Mohd Akil dan Presiden Alumni English College Ex-Students Association (ECESA), Profesor Dato’ Dr Daing Nasir dalam menyempurnakan Majlis Apresiasi dan Pelancaran Buku MSAB: Sejarah dan Biografi 100 Tokoh Melakar Kegemilangan.
Menurut Dato’ Mohamed Khaled, nama EC yang kini dikenali sebagai Maktab Sultan Abu Bakar (MSAB) ditubuhkan pada 21 Mac 1914 menyimpan pelbagai lipatan sejarah seiring dengan usianya. Malahan, sekolah yang berjasa ini pernah dijadikan kilang senjata pada zaman penjajahan Jepun suatu masa dahulu.
“Bermotokan `EC Must Lead’, sekolah ini banyak melahirkan tokoh ilmuan, korporat serta pemimpin negara. Jika di negeri Perak berbangga dengan Maktab Melayu Kuala Kangsar (MCKK), Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur pula Victoria Institution dan begitu juga rakyat Johor berbangga dengan institusi warisan, iaitu EC atau MSAB,” katanya.
Beliau turut sama membuka kapsul masa yang mengandungi surat amanat yang ditulis oleh Profesor Diraja Ungku Aziz untuk tatapan warga maktab setelah sekian lama ditanam di perkarangan maktab. 
Dato’ Mohamed Khaled berbangga dengan kejayaan maktab ini yang diiktiraf sebagai `Sekolah Kluster Kecemerlangan’ sejak tahun 2009 berdasarkan pencapaian cemerlang dalam lapangan akademik, sukan dan kokurikulum.
Bersempena sambutan 100 tahun yang gemilang juga maktab turut menganjurkan pelbagai acara termasuk Forum Perdana, Sambutan Maulidur Rasul, Cabaran Berbasikal, detik 100 jam menjelang hari sambutan dan pameran. 
Majlis dimeriahkan lagi dengan keberangkatan DYMM Sultan Johor, Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar ke jamuan makan malam yang turut dihiburkan dengan persembahan artis yang juga di kalangan alumni EC termasuk Ajai, Rahmat Mega dan Dato Shake.

Programmes Offered
The Faculty offers courses in science and technology that are relevant to today's industry, and to address the need for increased manpower requirements in Science and Technology. It is also aligned to the national goal to increase knowledgeable and competent human capital, namely, Research Scientists and Engineers (RSE).

A. Advanced Materials
This group conducts research on Renewable Energy, Catalysis, Liquid Crystals, Composite and Nanotechnology. The group is led by Dr Mohamad Ashry bin Jusoh

B. Chemistry and Industrial Chemistry
This group conducts research on Halal Food, Oleochemistry and Soil & Water. The group is lead by Dr Hazrulrizawati binti Abd Hamid.

C. Biotechnology & Industrial Biotechnology
This group conducts research on Medicinal Chemistry, Essential Oils, Bioremediation and Industrial Microbes & Enzymes. The group is led by Dr. Nina Suhaity binti Azmi

D. Mathematics and Statistics

Program Profile
The Master of Science (Industrial Computing) is a three semester (minimum) program designed to provide in-depth coverage of topics of the industrial and applied mathematics and computational tools in two sub-specializations, namely (i) Data Computing, and (ii) Computational Mathematics. The program emphasizes embedded case study in all lectured courses that enables students to integrate theory and application as well as using mathematical software such as EXCEL, C/C++, MatLab, R Language and GAPs as the essential and vital tools. The program also requires every student to complete a project dissertation based on a chosen applied and industrial problems.
