The event “Saintis Turun Ke Desa” was organized by Faculty of Industrial Sciences & Technology of Universiti Malaysia Pahang and jointly organized by Science Industrial & Technology Experts Society (SCITEXS), Sekolah Kebangsaan Liang Batu and also community of Kampung Liang Batu. The program started from 10 November 2017 (Friday) until 12 November 2017 (Sunday). The main objective of this event is to share and expose new technology such as recycle technology and solar cell technology to the community of Kampung Liang Batu and also the students of Sekolah Kebangsaan Liang Batu. Besides, we also learn new knowledge and experience from the community about their daily life activity for example fishing, “rewang”, painting and more. I was so grateful to have opportunities to participate in this event where the community of Kampung Liang Batu are very generous and friendly. My friends and I stayed at Pak Atan’s house which near to the school. The distance between their house and school is around 500 meter. Pak Atan and his family taught us the meaning of living in the village. Their house is so simple but full of kind and love. Besides, we have also experienced different types of cultural from them since there are part of Javanese. I was very thankful to them as their fetch us every day to the place that our program is carried out and they also always prepared their cultural food for us. “Rewang” was the best activity to be remembered during this event. “Rewang” is one of the traditional cooking styles where we will prepare and cook the food in teamwork. I am very proud of them because they give full of commitment during this event. Nowadays, it was so difficult to find the village that lives in peaceful and harmony. This community taught us that unity is not just based on organization but also based on respect and connection. On Saturday morning, we have the chance to communicate with the students of Sekolah Kebangsaan Liang Batu and teach them briefly and simply about Solar Cell Technology. They also undergo easy experiment on how to produce solar cell using plants such as rose. There are very excited to complete this simple experiment. They just learn the fundamental concept of Solar Cell Technology to enhance them become a good scientist in school. “Learn the fundamental first before you go through advance study, it will teach you equity, not egoity,” said Prof. Abdul Kariem bin Hj. Mohd Arof, father of battery in Malaysia. In conclusion, I like to thank to our beloved lecturer and director of the event, Dr. Saifful Kamaluddin Muzakir, lecturer of Solar Cell Technology for giving us gold opportunities to join this program. I also would like to thank all the organizers and the community of Kampung Liang Batu for making this event possible and I hope that will be event “Sainstis Turun ke Desa 2.0” undergo successfully after this.
