Global Classroom with Fraunhofer Institute for Wood Research, Wilhelm-Klauditz-Institut WKI, Germany
12th November 2019 - In line with the Centre for Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) initiative to connect students and academics from different countries, a global classroom between FIST, UMP, and Fraunhofer Institute for Wood Research, Wilhelm-Klauditz-Institut WKI, Germany was conducted. A total of 30 students from BSP3153 Polymers class took part in the global classroom. Dr Rasidi Roslan, the coordinator of the course, invited the collaborator, Dr Hatem Abushammala, from the Fraunhofer Institute for Wood Research, Germany, as the guest lecturer. Students enjoyed learning some basic German language. After some fun time, Dr Hatem gave a presentation on the advanced studies of polymers entitle turning biomass into high-value functional materials: a focus on nanocellulose and its application in advanced polymeric materials. Finally, the class ended with a short question and answer session.
